- When a Country Cracks Down on Contraception: Grim Lessons from the Philippines
I don't understand why Time labels this story as "Gender". How is birth control "gender"? Is birth control not something both sexes are responsible and interested in? Are there not highly popular forms of birth control that both sexes use? What am I missing? – Feb 22, 7:43 AM
- Food Co-op Readies for Boycott Vote
Believe me, this pales in comparison to the great Willy St. Co-op back driveway debate. Now that's debatable! – Feb 21, 6:58 PM

- A Muggle At Hogwarts
No, I'm waiting for the 101st person to bug me about reading it before I actually read it. I did download it to the Kindle, so that's a first step. – Feb 21, 8:52 AM
- A Muggle At Hogwarts
That was interesting, and I want to read the rest of his reviews. It will be interesting to see the view of someone who isn't influenced by the books (even though the books are far superior to the movies). Have you read The Hunger Games yet? – Feb 21, 8:51 AM
- 101 Great Presidential Quotes
I wrote this list several years ago. If I rewrote it now, it would probably look a little bit different. There are a couple of quotes that have really stuck with me since I did the original research for this: 89. If you see 10 troubles coming down the road, you can be sure that 9 will run into the ditch before they reach you. -Calvin Coolidge 53. In matters of principals, stand like a rock; in matters of taste, swim with the current. -Thomas Jefferson Those aren't just good quotes, they're good little life lessons. – Feb 20, 12:20 PM
- Bon Iver scores upset victory for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards
I don't get the controversy around them not playing. The Grammys had plenty of room for Chris Brown to perform (twice!) and for the Foo Fighters to perform multiple times. They could certainly have spared 5 minutes for Bon Iver to play a song they deemed worthy enough to nominate for their major awards. It was an insult. I'd rather they sit on the sidelines than look like fools like Foster The People playing a Beach Boys song instead of their own hit. – Feb 13, 8:53 AM

- The Non Music Fan’s Guide to M.I.A., from Truffle Fries to Her New Video
It's funny that this is such a big deal. She apparently does it in the video for the song and was just repeating the gesture. Ooooh, the finger. Who cares? Of course, I'm probably biased because I really like her. – Feb 06, 6:07 PM

- Pippa Middleton Sees Your Buckingham Palace, Raises You Hogwarts
I think it's more interesting that he's related to Henry Percy, the 6th Earl of Northumberland. He was the one that was engaged to Anne Boleyn but was forced to marry another woman, hated her and pretty much hated his family for making him do it. His family all rebelled against the Crown during the Pilgrimage of Grace and Henry was the only one that remained loyal. He died pretty young and gave everything to the crown rather than his family - assuming the King would later give it over to his young nephew. The Northumberlands do have a fairly long history of rebellion so maybe Pippa should marry this guy and try to usurp the throne. – Feb 04, 9:37 AM

"We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not." And if you believe that, you'll believe anything. – Feb 03, 2:15 PM
