  Beer in cans: It’s not just for Bud anymore 

  You could almost see the woman wince. The smiling, pink-faced man at the beer store had just recommended a craft beer sold in a can. “I’m going to a dinner party,” she said. Couldn’t he suggest something bottled?
  
  I restrained myself from interrupting, but here’s what I wanted to say: You’re going to have to get used to this. In fact, we all are. Almost conspiratorially, craft breweries nationwide — from such giants as Sierra Nevada Brewing to upstarts like the District’s own DC Brau — have been embracing aluminum. Some of them, such as Florida-based Cigar City Brewing, are among the most highly regarded breweries in the country. In certain circles, 2011 might be remembered as the Year of the Can.More »

  Seven Packers earn Pro Bowl selections 

  Represented by seven members of the team, the Green Bay Packers learned Tuesday that wide receiver Greg Jennings, fullback John Kuhn, linebacker Clay Matthews, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, nose tackle B.J. Raji, center Scott Wellsand cornerback Charles Woodson were named Pro Bowl selections by the National Football League.   Minnesota cities try to hold back on rented housing 

  With foreclosures still hitting the housing market hard, at least one metro city is so wary about empty houses turning into rundown rental properties that it plans to limit the number of rentals allowed on each block.
  
  Those types of rules are already established in Minnesota college towns such as Winona and Mankato, but as metro areas seek to try them, it could lead to a battle: property owners who can't sell their vacant houses and say they could face foreclosure if they can't rent them out vs. cities that say too many rentals can drag down everybody else's property values..

  Why Iowa Shouldn’t Vote First Anymore 

  A week before Iowa’s January 3 caucuses, the outcome of the Republican contest is hard to predict: Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney all stand a chance at winning. But something else already seems clear: Iowa has blown its special claim as the first state to vote in presidential contests.
  
  Iowa’s first-to-vote-status dates to 1972, when a quirk in Democratic Party rules scheduled its caucuses ahead of the New Hampshire primary, which had opened the presidential nominating process since 1920. Republicans followed suit four years later. Iowa’s political establishment quickly found that it enjoyed all the attention and economic activity that came with going first, and enshrined into state law a mandate that Iowa vote at least eight days before any other state.

  Some Falcons Players Upset Drew Brees Went For The Record Last Night 

  New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees broke the NFL single-season record for passing yards last night with 2:51 remaining in the fourth quarter of a 45-16 blowout over the Atlanta Falcons. With a lead that large, some Falcons players told CBS Sports that they were upset that the Saints would elect to continue to pass against them with the sole purpose of achieving the record.
